About Us

Central Motors is a rural garage situated at the western edge of St Ann's Chapel, Gunnislake on the A390 Tavistock to Callington road. We are about half a mile from Gunnislake railway station on the scenic Tamar Valley line to Plymouth.

The present owner, Dave Martin, bought the company in 1967 when it was based at Newbridge Hill Gunnislake. In 1972 the business expanded when Southover Filling Station was bought. Along with the rented property ‘Newbridge Garage,’ the company traded from all three premises for many years. In 1989 the St Ann’s Chapel site was redeveloped to include new workshops, reception, stores and car showrooms. The business then relocated to the St Ann’s Chapel site and the Newbridge Hill site was sold.

Today, the business comprises a convenience shop, used car sales, vehicle repair workshop and MOT testing station. We are a GroupAuto, AutoCare garage which means we are able to offer our customers a wide range of O.E. quality parts at competitive prices for all makes and models of vehicles.

We employ a total of thirteen people, some of whom are employed on a part-time basis. Many of our staff have worked for Central Motors for more than 25 years. Together with Dave’s sons, Dean & Glen who are running the day to day business, we are continuing to provide a service that we feel is second to none.
